It’s a beautiful day

Post by Nyarlathotep » Wed May 29, 2019 2:25 pm

The sun is shining. The birds are singing.

But most importantly I am putting in my notice at my crap sack job today.

I am not a man prone to spontaneous outbursts of song, but I may just make an exception today

Grats
The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

Cool. On to bigger and better things?

More lucrative, anyway

And a shorter commute, and less tedious, and I get treated like a goddam adult

A much better deal all around

Excellent.

So no more selling insurance?

Yes and no.

The insurance thing kind of didn’t work out so I have been working in a Bank Call Center (every bit as crappy as it sounds). But I am going back into insurance, a different kind with a different company with a better training program

By the way, since I've been working in the auto loan department of a bank call center, I have learned two very interesting things

1) People do not read their fucking contracts. I kind of understand glossing over the fine print, but I mean even the big obvious bits containing very obvious information. Like how much the loan is for. I don't know about you, but if I am going to be on the hook to a bank for tens of thousands of dollars, I kind of want to know exactly how much. Other people, I guess, are far less curious.

2) A distressingly large number of people DO NOT grasp how a loan works on even the most basic level. Again, not the fine print level shit, but the basic idea that the bank gives you money and ultimately you give them even more money back. It amazes me how many people are shocked and appalled that they have to pay interest. I guess they figure the bank gave them that $30,000 out of the goodness of its heart. One guy DEMANDED that I waive his interest. The bank frowns on me responding to such demands with "lol, no", but I was sorely tempted.

--J.D,
I already did. Upgraded from iPhone 7 to iPhone X and bought not one but two new albums. That's as upgraded as it gets.
