It has Sir. Derek Fucking Ja-Ja-Ja-Colby, the Real Hannibal Lector and That Guy from The Death of Stalin who tormented Mr. Pink about buntings. Though the discerning remember him as the costumer from Topsy Turvy who torments That Guy from Trainspotting who should not keep cats and, oh yeah, Rome.

Generally pleased. I do not think Francis Dermont works as the narrator. Having it be either "Crowley" or Tony Blair Azaraphael in certain spots would have worked better. They did trim down the "witch finder" parts that did not work so well. Also, the danger of any series which involves kids is if the kids suck. Imagine GoT if Arya & Co. acted as if they came out of A Very Special Episode of Blossom!

They did a good job, especially Adam. As in the Japanese Original book, he needs to be able to switch from good to tyrant/evil as if it is second nature since, hey, he goes to is 11 years old.

Minor criticisms. I have recommended it to any I have forced to read the book.

Though I am not sure Pulsifer should have killed Anathema in the end, then be let go by Adam and Them to take the black and man the wall which, of course, is just a really seedy pub underneath the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. . . .

Line of Duty.

A Bugger'd by USA!USA!USA! series that enters its fifth season. Basically the "internal affairs" of the London People Who Wander About with Silly Hats, Clubs, and "'ere What's All This About?!'"

It has everyone including:
  • 1. The assassin from Psychoville
    2. The Guy who buys a gun from "za Germans" in Snatch
    3. "For the Watch" from Game of Thrones so compelling the writers extended his character. He likes shooting Muslims.
    4. That Gal Married to That Guy in Ripper Street. She likes sleeping with you, recording it, then posting it on the internet as blackmail.
    5. Your Mom
    6. The Cray Twins from Whitechapel
    7. "Attia of the Julii, I Call for Justice!" "She's a bad influence!"
    8. asthmatic camel on his Fag-o-Cycle with a burner phone and tire iron
and tons of others. The Scully 'n Mulder characters do not "shag," they do not particularly like one another. None of this "will they or won't they" crap going on for episodes. They may sometimes like one another, but they also try to professionally screw each other at various times.

Most important, it meets the Nyarl Joe Bob Brigg's Standard of drama in that Anyone Can Die at Any Time. And they do.

Hands rot off.

Heads roll.

Children cry.

Except for the children who will take a tire iron to your knees then piss on you as they laugh. So, therefore, a Family Friendly drama.

Finished it. Generally pretty good to excellent. Only thing is that the term God in a Machine was invented for the second half of the finale for each season.

Couple of observations.

The Metropolitan Police are the most corrupt and incompetent organization in the world. It is as bad as living in Midsomer County where you stand a 50:50 chance of getting killed on any given day.

The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

P.S. David Tennant made the observation regarding more series of Broadmore that you cannot expect a "small seaside town" to have anymore murder and tragedy.

A very bad remake of "Little Shop Of Horrors".

Midsomer must have a higher homicide rate than the bad neighborhoods in Chicago.

Season 2 of "The Tick"

I enjoyed season 1, but I am enjoying this season even more. Even goofier and more over the top. One thing I enjoyed in the various animated incarnations of the show were the other bizarre heroes and villains that surrounded him and this season seems to be delivering more of that. Funny as hell.

Mr. Iglesias

It's a sitcom on Netflix with Gabriel Iglesias playing a high school history teacher. Kind of like a modern Welcome Back Kotter, but starring one of my favorite comedians.

Regarding Dark I recall having to make notes for the first series.

I need to make more notes. . . .

City on a Hill with Kevin Bacon.

First episode was a ot steaming mess. Second seemed like the boat got righted though it still lists a bit. Certainly worth a peek.

Movies I started but did not last 10 minutes:

Scottish Mussels <----starred guy from Line of Duty
Drunk Parents >---particularly horrid :BlowChunks:
King of Thieves

Special nod to Cold Flesh that was alternately creepy and repellent. Watched that for 45 minutes then fast forwarded. In spite of that I did not make the end and have no idea what the ultimate point of it was.

On another note, I have found that I am now weirdly attracted to chick flicks. They are what they are. They are completely predictable. They do not disappoint.

In the dying days of the old west, an elderly sheriff and his posse set out to rescue their town's doctor from cannibalistic cave dwellers.
Director: S. Craig Zahler
Writer: S. Craig Zahler
Stars: Kurt Russell, Patrick Wilson, Matthew Fox
The first half is a good western shoot-em-up and posse hunting down some Indian kidnappers. Second is fucking disturbing. I'm glad I watched it but I wouldn't watch it again.
