Rudy Gay
Injured: January 2017, age 30
Gay, with the Kings at the time of his injury in January 2017, signed a two-year deal with the San Antonio Spurs in the 2017 offseason and returned for the start of the following season. Prior to his injury, Gay averaged 18.4 points and 5.9 rebounds on 45.2% shooting in 11 seasons. In 126 games since returning, he's averaged 12.7 points and [6] rebounds, shooting 49%. Though Durant is on another level as a player, Gay's recovery could be instructive, as he was in his 12th season when he returned, while Durant just finished his 12th season.

Granted I do not know shit about medicine but it wouldn't be unprecedented. I think a prominent and most recent example of a player similar to Durant with the same type of injury is Rudy Gay. Here's a blurb about this from an SI.com article on Achilles injuries:

People have mentioned Gay, but he was younger than Durant.
Durant needs to be put on an ice flow.
Tom Brady can, of course, play for another fifteen years.

And Kawhi signs with Clippers to the confusion of everyone.
I must say as NBA fan it creates parity and the league will be fun to watch. At the same time I am puzzled by his choice.

I will dispense with my usual measur'd and reason'd objective sports analysisHA!IN YOUR ["Mother."--Ed.]'s FACE GRAMMY HA! FAG! HA! HA! [Get on with it.--Ed.] to note that I am weirdly surprised.
More than a few Sports Dudes wondered if he would go to the Fakers to form another "Dream Team" with Princess James. So his movement to the Clippers is rather interesting. I do not think many seriously thought he would go to the Clippers.
Since the HOLDER OF MOST CHAPMDEKURTSHIPS BOSTON CELTICS are in a period of "rebuilding" [He previously compared them to "a steaming pile of puppy shit" and lamented the inexorable "I Told You So Dance" from a Mr. Grammatron--Ed.] most Pro-Celtics Sports Dudes wondered if he would stick with Toronto simply to have a subject to discuss when they all assumed he would go to the Fakers.
Very interesting, or as Anax would put it, "触手責め"

Not as Interesting as Clippers sending all of their future for the next few years and some players for Paul George. What a twist! Any NBA game in staples center is going to be fantastic next year. Frankly I consider this move far more glutenous than Kawhi choosing Lakers. Now people in LA can pretend to be fans of either team ifwhen they win a championship!

Should the Clippers rebrand?
I feel like the "Clippers" is a team name that should be retired.
It was a joke for decades.

To both, the Clippers are basically what the Pats were until 2000--a joke team with ownerships who had no idea how to finance an run a team. In fact, I sincerely felt there was a weird symmetry when the Pats won in 2001, and then the next Joke Team--Tampa Bay--won the following year.
As much as I poke Gram's Mom [Sigh.--Ed.] about "t3h c34ting Minnesota Fakers" I always sort of rooted for the Clippers. Horrible owner as we have discussed finally removed when a new commissioner refused to ignore what everyone knew. Not just the "little brother" to the Fakers, but the one the family keeps locked in the basement. If My Team cannot win, I would definitely love to see the Clippers finally win.
Despite my Fanboyness[Tm.--Ed.]--yes, yes, I did "curse" "that fucking Browns coach!" who beat the Pats in Foxborough in a playoff, just when it seemed the Pats might be relevant. I cheered when he was fired! Fuck him! Ha! HA! What? The Pats are hiring him as a coach? Why?--if My Team cannot win I am happy to root for underdogs and the like. These last finals were difficult because "Drake" is such an asshole, but I figured Toronto deserved to finally win something.
I tried to root for the Cleveland Cavs before the Celtics Became Relevant Again, but Princess James is such an egotistical douche, it became nearly impossible.
Now what Gram can have fun with is IF the Clippers succeed--with a Celtics coach!!11!!![!--Ed.]--how many Fakers fans who ridicules the "little brother" will start wearing Clippers gear?

It's hard to say, honestly. Even when Lakers were in the toilet during the last 6 years and Clippers were contending with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, the tickets to Lakers games were still more expensive and sold out. This new line up with Kawhi and Paul Geaorge is way more hype but Lakers now have LeBron and Anthony Davis; a powerhouse projected to win the Championship in their own right.
I won't pretend I've rooted for Clippers and I prefer the Lakers to win. Still, I don't have to chose and go to bot games :)

As I may have mentioned, I never "got" the idea of "two teams one city." I figured it was the "best of both worlds," but that is not the case. Even in the 86 Year Curse I am aware of no one who tried to claim "Boston Braves" championships!
But then some things like Cubs/White Sox and MFY/Mets breaks on socioeconomic and even ethnic lines which, inherently, is not rational.
You KNOW if the Clippers win a lot of celebrity Lakers fans will suddenly show up! Spike Lee will be among them.

Well . . . in that it does not "make sense" in that what many thought would be the building of a "Dream Team" with the Fakers did not happen. We have discussed whether or not Durant will be a "good move."
I have to wonder why Kawaii [Stop that.--Ed.] chose the Slippers over the Fakers, but maybe he is laughing with the rest all the way to a championship. Be the guy to bring the first to Toronto and the Ever Lamented Clippers?
"And what have you done, Princess?!"
Meanwhile, the Cs keep talking about tacos for some reason.
A bunch of these. I will link my favorite Faints fan:

P.S. "Makas Sma?"
P.P.S. Is Phish still a "thing" . . . this . . . decade?
P.S. Sad they cannot really include the Buffalo Guy.
