You know, here in Japan they have bicycles with baskets in the front or on the back or even both. In which you can put things.

I'm trying to figure out what problem that is supposed to solve. It can't be the "you can't carry things on a bicycle" problem, because that one was solved long ago.

I have a bicycle with a basket on the front. Back in the days before supermarkets they were known as shopping bikes; enough room for a loaf and the day's fresh groceries. They're quite fashionable now and I've seen people carrying pet dogs in the baskets.

Mine's one of these. :)

No stability bar used to == "girl's bike" (at least in the USA).

The idea was not just another arbitrary gender convention, but to prevent outraging modesty because the stability bar would hike up the girl's skirt.

I suppose in the UK it is simply a Scotsman's bike, and therefore more manly the a bike with a stability bar (a Sassenach bike).

They're also known as "Dutch Bikes" and "Step-through Bikes", Abdul. Primarily aimed at ladies but also handy for gentlemen who are approaching their Autumn years and can no longer "get their legover." So to speak. Mine's really comfortable to ride. :)

As you may have seen in the "Feats of strength" thread, I am having exactly that problem.

If I don't get past it with certain exercises as described in that thread, I may go for a Scotsman.

And I will call it a Scotsman. Because in Scotland, wearing skirts is very very butch. :)

Beg pardon Old Boy. It's a Scotsman's bicycle (or colloquially in context simply a "Scotsman").

Your comment is worthy of a Sassenach. I expected better of you.

Thats the castle whose causeway was used in Outlander. Doune? ronounced "Doone" I think.

That was before they started wearing skirts and fellating pig entrails.

ETA: I really loved Scotland. I know how that looks after my earlier posts but it is really cool place.

This segues nicely into space heating, a subject I know you are fascinated by. The header tanks for the original gas central heating system used to be here but, when I replaced it with a combi boiler system, they were no longer required. As I had some boards left from boarding out the attic floor, I used them to construct this sturdy table for extra storage space. The train set won't be permanently installed on the table, I'm going to buy some MDF and build a modular layout for the 00 gauge trains. The N gauge stuff can live in my den. (One train set is never enough.) :)
