The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

This one of those occasions a gentleman would offer his arm to a Lady. To climb stairs in search of a victim perhaps.

Awesome costume, sadly not flight worthy though, bat wings are fingers not arms.

You know what Nyarlathotep appreciates? The fact that my niece sent me the link to this story today

Carson City man jailed for attempted murder, allegedly beat victim with large rock

The "man" in question is my former brother in law and his victim was my sister. I hope he is the cellmate of the biggest dick in the prison (both physically and metaphorically). I hope he gets fucking shivved but doesn't die...only to be shivved again.

Anyway, I appreciate all the appreciation on this thread, but reading that story truly put a smile on my face and a song in my heart.

A man was extradited to Carson City from Arizona ...
Pura has been arrested four other times for domestic battery on the same victim. Bail: $150,000. Are your jails under some kind of court order or something?$150,000 bond for attempted murder with four priors against the same victim and fleeing the state?

Hopefully, he's as big a piece of shit as he looks in his booking photo and won't have any way to bail himself out.

Yeah, no idea why he got bail at all much less how much. I wasn’t privy to the decision. But luckily, the dickhile would have trouble raising $150 much less$150K (or whatever fraction thereof he would need to pay a bail bondsman) so he ain’t leaving

Good.

Georgia bail bondsmen used to charge somewhere between 10 and 15 percent, if memory serves. On rare occasions, some silly relatives would put up the deeds to their houses.

AFAIK, a bail bondsman can charge what he wants in every state of the nation. 10% is usual for small cases like DUI or shoplifting or whatnot. 20% or more is more typical for crimes such as these; cash or mortgage with restrictions such as ankle bracelets or whatever. This isn't refundable. Even 10% would be hard to gather unless the guy has some assets.

I don't recall the glowing dildo scene from the movie. Must have been edited out.

Okay, I find local legends fascinating so I am pretty familiar with them and I call BS on the "Spiteful Mermaid of Pyramid Lake"

Now, Pyramid Lake DOES have a pretty sinister reputation but it isn't "mermaids" it's water spirits whose Paiute name I forget (my family is from that neck of the woods though, and I could find out if anyone cares). White settlers corrupted THAT myth into said spirits being the ghosts of babies drowned by the Paiutes (what the savages did to babies who had deformities, you see) and those vengeful ghosts being malicious. But either way, it's much closer to aquatic ghosts than mermaids.

Pyramid Lake DOES have a lot fatal accidents and such, but I attribute that to the fact that its a pretty popular spot for fishing, swimming, boating, etc so more people on the lake == more people IN the lake, catch my drift.

Caves near the lake are also said to have been inhabited by giants and the area as a whole is said to be home to a species of small red haired humanoids less than a foot tall. I know people who claim to have actually seen the latter, but I take that all with a grain of salt. Still, I guess that graphic got it right in that if we have a nexus of supernatural weirdness in Nevada, Pyramid Lake is it.

We also are supposed to have cryptids in both Lake Tahoe (Tessie) and Walker Lake (Cecil). Lots of weird local legends around here, one of the reasons I set a lot of my fiction around here.
