So, most teams still have about 11 or 12 games left to play this season, but already more home runs have been hit in Major League Baseball this year than ever before, including during the so-called "Steroids Era". So, have they figured out how to not get caught or what? Or could there be another explanation?

Comparing this year to an arbitrary year from the past (let's say 1985):

In 1985 Darrell Evans led the Majors with 40 home runs, and there were 13 players who hit at least 30 home runs. 59 had at least 20 home runs.

This year, although not finished yet, Giancarlo Stanton already has 55 home runs, and 31 players have at least 30, and 110 have at least 20.

Apparently, the Red Sox have not learned how to use steroids.

If they had a very intrusive drug testing policy, such as used for the Olympics, maybe. I guess it's just a question of how easy is it to cheat without getting caught. If you analogize it to hacking, every time they fix one vulnerability, the hackers keep finding new ones. Are the cheaters one step ahead of the people who are supposed to catch them? The MLB drug testing policy was established through a collective bargaining agreement in 2006, and maybe it is out of date, like old anti-virus software that can't protect against the newest hacks.Abdul Alhazred wrote:Once the steroid barrier has been crossed, can there ever really be an end to the "Steroids Era"?
