If people can't decide whether to use permanent summer time or permanent winter time, why not split the difference and do a (once only) shift of half-an-hour: then never alter the clocks ever again. Surely people shouldn't complain too much about a mere thirty minutes of extra light or dark in the mornings/evenings?

What makes it even more stupid is that DST doesn't begin here in the UK till Sunday 31st March at 1am. We always alter our clocks on the last Sunday in March and the last Sunday in October. So as well as the usual confusion just caused by altering the clocks, you get an extra two weeks or so of added confusion when contacting people in foreign countries or flying there - the time offset is an hour different (plus or minus) compared to the rest of the year.

Society would argue over which half of the hour to shift.

If they would just make "spring forward" happen at 4pm on a Friday, it would be a lot more popular.

I thought, yeah, maybe that's the ticket. Doing it on a Monday morning is a mistake.
I probably already wrote about that, but the Froggies made the same blunder with their revolutionary calendar: from one holiday/week it went to one holiday/10 days. (And under the Ancien Régime, with all the saints having a yearly named day, roughly one day out of three was some kind of holiday – so ditching the saints wasn't popular either…)

Ergo this needs a modern solution: wristwatches/phones with GPS, some puny algorithm, and presto, everybody can enjoy True Personal Solar Time©. Cool, no? :P

Just posting here that daylight savings time ends on Sunday, November 3. We need to get ahead of this fallback and write (not email) our congress critters and tell them -- nay, demand of them -- that they need end this bullshit once and for all. I JUST got used to the spring-ahead! When you write, tell them this is your greatest issue, the only issue you even care about. A make or break at the polling place. More important than that The Wall, et all, abortion, Russia, strippers, whoring, Epstein, Syria, impeachment, and Hunter Biden COMBINED!!!eleventy11! because not a fucking one of those will impact your life EVER, unlike DST, which has fucked you up twice every year since you been birthed.

Completely relaxed as I get out of bed when I wake up, eat when I'm hungry and go to sleep when I'm tired. Need no stinkin' watch to tell me what to do. (One of my friends said I now live the life of a baby. Pure jealousy, of course.)
A good nap also helps fight post-prandial asthenia, and conforms to biological human activity cycles. :)

I'll be sure to twist my garden sundial around slightly to make it read "correctly" after the end of March, but I won't do it at the designated time because the sun needs to be A) above the horizon, and B) visible enough to cast a shadow. It will happen sometime in April though, probably.

According to the National Conference of State Legislators, lawmakers in 32 states are considering bills that would change the current system of splitting the year into about eight months of daylight time and the rest, standard.

“It’s been a hot issue,” said Jim Reed, an NCSL official. And it’s getting hotter, he added. Every year more state lawmakers are considering changing the system. The preponderance are pushing for year-round daylight time, although Congress has forbidden states from doing so.

Well what the fuck is congress going to do if the preponderance just sez FUCK YOU!?

I'm putting my foot down!
