"If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little bit more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor. Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"

Hmmm… Perhaps a Disney parody (quite un-PC)?

The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

There is this deep, dark, evolutionary urge to scare the shit out of children. Bill Waterson notes that his actual dad would do things like this:

sort of up there with Fuck with Kitty:

And isn't it 'Necronomicon'? Sure you can post in your own appreciation thread Nyar, but that one goes in the 'Ship Of Fail' thread.

Well that idea was stolen.

There was an episode of what I think was "Night Gallery", or maybe the Twilight Zone remakes by Spielberg, I dunno, in which various people endure different scenarios, all develop deja vu, and eventually wonder why all of it is happening to them. End of episode reveals that it's all in the imagination of the writer.
