I'd be happy to ride with you sir! Especially so as I don't care to drive at night any longer. :)

Nyarlathotep wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2019 2:34 am You know what Nyarlathotep appreciates? The fact that my niece sent me the link to this story today
Carson City man jailed for attempted murder, allegedly beat victim with large rock
The "man" in question is my former brother in law and his victim was my sister. I hope he is the cellmate of the biggest dick in the prison (both physically and metaphorically). I hope he gets fucking shivved but doesn't die...only to be shivved again.
Anyway, I appreciate all the appreciation on this thread, but reading that story truly put a smile on my face and a song in my heart.
This is what upsets me about this. How many times does this have to happen before the justice system acts?Pura has been arrested four other times for domestic battery on the same victim. Bail: $150,000.

Attempts to impose order on the chaos by assigning each Krampus with a starting number and setting up barriers between the evil spirits and spectators have not always been successful. An alcohol ban has also been difficult to enforce.
“If large group of young men in masks roamed the streets on any other night of the year, the police would be called out in an instant,” said Wiesflecker. “In an anonymous collective, we are always more likely to overstep our boundaries.”
Dammm....if I was only a few decades younger.

↑ Goin' back to the Middle Ages. Carnival then could be life-threatening, rules were practically suspended, everybody had a knife anyway, mostly no street lighting, and a jolly good time for robbers and outlaw gangs.
Sturdy door on your house, don't walk the streets.

Ha-ha!
There are still quite violent feasts today (not necessarily carnival) where you get smeared with wine dregs or other unpleasant goo, or, for the assholes, where you can torture some hapless donkey.

I'm guessing a muddled memory of coming upon an illegal still somewhere in Eastern Europe?

Re: Nyarlathotep appreciation thread.
No one is more surprised than I am at the fact that pot is now legal in Nevada. Given my state's previous stance on the substance, I figured it would be literally the last holdout against legalization rather than one of the early adopters. And I was doubly shocked that one of the biggest legalization proponents of the change was the Republican governor we had at the time. Though the last is tempered by the fact that Governor Sandoval kind of went against the Evangelical holy roller grain that is common among Republicans in other states, he could give an entire speech without ever once invoking God or Jesus, so he was often derided as a RINO.
The most fun part of legalization in this state was watching the uber-conservatives go nuts. Sheldon Adelson, one of Trump's best buds, went so far as to buy the Las Vegas Review Journal (biggest newspaper in the state) specifically to change the paper's editorial policy from pro-legalization to anti. Then lie about both his ownership of the paper and, once that became impossible, about why he did it

Re: Nyarlathotep appreciation thread.
Well, update on my piece of shit ex-brother in law who tried to murder my sister.
The good news is that he is going to prison.
The bad news is that he made a plea deal and is only looking at 2-15.
Guess I have two years to figure out a good way to dispose of his corpse when he gets out. And of course for the benefit of any law enforcement personnel who may be reading this in two years, I am only kidding.
Or am I? Maybe I will just torture him to death, turn myself in and take my lumps. Ha ha. That was another joke.
