Sleeping in Winter

Post by Bruce »

It's fucking cold.

Time to pull out the trusty blankets.

Finally cozy. Fall asleep.

Body gets too hot under these blankets and sweats.

Unconsciously throw blankets on floor.

Sweat evaporates immediately.

Wake up freezing cold and dehydrated.

Get up. Take a piss. Gulp down some water.

Pick up blankets off the floor.

Lay back down, shivering, until body heat slowly builds back up under the blankets.

Rinse and repeat about once per hour.

Alarm goes off. Fuck you alarm.

Slap snooze button.

Lay there for 5 minutes, thinking of ed, down there in Florida, seething in jealousy.

Ed might have to deal with hurricanes, tidal waves, sinkholes, crazy Floridians, crocodiles, and Disney, but at least he gets to sleep through it all.

Fuck you, ed. :x

A chill in the morning and the flannel sheets. It’s nice
Although when it gets below 70 here I do break out my long sleeve shirts. I have no blood. Hard to believe I’m from Chicago.

Just proves it's not cold enough.

Ever thought of moving to Svalbard?

May I refer you to my Heating Solutions Thread viewtopic.php?f=5&t=49296 ?

Here is our far infrared heating panel in the bedroom which is plugged into a thermostatic plug. It keeps the room at a comfortable 18%C for around £0.05 per hour.

ed and Listy may scoff but we ain't sweating, shivering or throwing blankets around.

And as for night-time micturition, I highly recommend one of these. Or, if you're a skinflint, a two gallon plastic milk carton.

↑ Picture one is clearly cultural appropriation! :x

As for picture two, I see Britland has gone back to 19th c. technology:

I used to have something like that, AC. Mine looked like this:

Kept my home office nice and toasty. Used to give me sunburn when sitting in front of it for too long. After I replaced it with my first flat screen, that office became the coldest room in the house.
